Young Beacons was launched in 2017 with a goal to inspire children and young people to achieve their full potential by delivering a series of cultural, recreational, educational and wellbeing activities.
Our story began in 2005 when a Coventry market stall became a community hub. It was a place where families met friends whilst doing their weekly shop, buying fresh fruit, veg, and cultural foods.
It was a special place where everything to do with life was talked about: a love of food was shared, and most importantly, tales of the community were told.
Through all the stories shared, it became apparent there was the need for activities for children and young people in the community. So, Young Beacons CIC was born.
Young Beacons has a strong presence in the community, and has organised a number of projects and events since its launch.
We work every day towards our goals of uplifting and inspiring children of African and Caribbean heritage to reach their full potential.
People of all cultures have become part of what we do by attending our activities and events.
It is really important to us to engage with everyone we can, and in sharing our cultures, we can build a strong and inclusive Coventry.
